We want to extend an invitation to you and your students to attend the 2007 UD Business Plan Competition Finals. The finals are being held on Friday April 20th, at 1:30 pm in Lerner Hall 125. At the Finals, the students have ten minutes to “pitch” their ideas to a seasoned judging panel, comprised of venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, and service providers. The students are then “grilled” by the judges for about 10 minutes. At the completion, the judges select the overall competition winner. The Finalists were selected from a larger group based upon the submission of a written business plan. An awards ceremony and reception follows the competition. The five finalists for this year are:

Long Island Swim School – Provides swimming
instructions in the comfort of the client’s own swimming
pool.

Black Box Music – A recording studio and full service
producer of local concerts and music events.
• Sean Darras (Engineering)
SNAPDECK ™ – Produces simple and innovative
products that allow customers to inexpensively add
outdoor living space.
• Mike Kobb (Finance) and Mike Barugel (Arts &
Sciences)
Mike’s Backyard Restaurant – A themed restaurant
located in downtown Newark, DE.
As you can see, the students have vast array of ideas, and also hail form across the University. Please encourage your students, especially those interested in entrepreneurship to attend.
